After an accidental pregnancy shakes up their relationship she seeks comfort in her not-boyfriend, who is revealed to be a vampire and turns her. Starla has to struggle with her newfound vampirism and helping Roy take care of their half-vampire son
Early life

Desmodus Draculae
Starla was Desmodus Draculae's biggest and first fan. She discovered them at a DIY show way before Roy even arrived in California and she remained a fan ever since. Starla considered herself a DD groupie and anywhere they were playing she was guaranteed to show up. When Roy joined the band she was infatuated immediately and it wasn't long after their first meeting that they started hooking up. Once they became an item she started to consider the band her friends... even though the feeling wasn't necessarily mutual. Shortly after dating Roy she became pregnant, and although he eventually came around to the idea of being a father, Starla felt that she was stealing his youth and so she broke up with him and sought refuge in her previous situationship, Amadeus.
Death
Amadeus, misunderstanding Starla's distress as an admission of suicidal ideation, turned her into a vampire. It took a while for her to adjust to being a vampire and during that time she had limited contact with Roy and her newborn out of fear that she might hurt them. This caused Starla to miss out on crucial bonding time with Desmond that effected their relationship throughout his childhood. Truthfully though, the thing Starla wanted the most was to stay young forever and she got it! She spent the time she was away from Roy and Desmond learning to control her bloodlust and vampire powers and slowly integrating into vampire society. Her immortality means she is finally free from things like "getting a job" and "growing" and gives her the sense of freedom she always dreamed of. Starla does her best to only feed on people who she believes deserve it, but when options are limited the definition of "deserving" can get pretty loose. The only thing she wants now is for Roy to become a vampire too.

Starla is the life of the party and marches to the beat of her own drum. She has no fear of conflict and isn't afraid to speak her mind and doesn't care that her taste in fashion and music makes her stand out. Although she naturally enjoys meeting new people and experiencing new things, part of her outgoing personality comes from a place of overcompensation. She believes that the more fun she is the less apparent her flaws will be. Sometimes her sensitivty causes her to lash out at others, or pick fights (especially with Roy) to try and get them to validate a negative thought she has about herself. She is very comfortable around people and speaks without thinking which can unintentionally annoy or hurt the feelings of other people. When she does become aware that she's hurt someone it will eat her up inside.
